HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Pennsylvania's Department of Health says it has placed a temporary manager at the Golden Living nursing home on Poplar Church Road in Camp Hill. The manager has been at the facility since July 19.
ABC27 has reported on inspections showing hygiene issues and medication errors in the facility, along with an incident involving maggots in a patient's feeding tube.
The Department of Health says several substantiated complaints and "potential for resident harm" led to the decision to place a temporary manager at the facility.
The temporary manager's job is to evaluate practices and advise management about changes that need to be made. The goal is to ensure residents stay safe while the facility gets up to code.
A Golden Living spokesperson sent ABC27 a statement saying: "We were pleased to have had the Department of Health's support to get this building back into full compliance. While we received a verbal notice of that goal being achieved last weekend, we are awaiting the 2567 to officially cross that finish line."
"We are proud of our caregivers who really pulled together to address the recent concerns. Our patients and residents come first, and we are honored to continue our mission to serve them."
