NVIDIA Shield Tablet Receives the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

The NVIDIA Shield handset is one of the best tablets out there, and it comes with some great features and specifications. Well, we have some good news for all owners of this great tablet, as it seems that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is already rolling out for it.

The Shield Tablet is an awesome handset, ideal for playing games, but it seems that the Android 5 Lollipop was a bit fussy about where you've saved your games and application. Well, it seems that that this is not a problem anymore, as the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS combines the microSD card storage with the build-in memory.

With other words, you will be able to fill the tablet with videos, applications and games without having to worry about the space. However, we remind you that if you install this update on your Shield Tablet, it will wipe any microSD card that you've got inside the handset.

The new update also comes with a new look for the camera, improved burst mode and a new material design that will match with the new OS version. In addition, you will also notice all the Android 6.0 Marshmallow tweaks such as enhanced App Permissions, Google Now On Tap contextual search and the ability to launch the Google Now Voice commands from the Lock Screen.

You might even notice that the battery will last longer than usual and that's because of the new App Standby and Bluetooth lower energy. It's good to know that the Shield Tablet K1 has received also a small update, but it was mostly focusing on fixing some bugs and adding a bit more security tweaks.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update is now available for the Wi-Fi only Shield Tablet, but anyone who owns the LTE model will be able to get it in a few weeks.
