New Book by Child Behavior Expert Julia Cook Helps Kids Navigate Online Footprints

In the rapidly changing world of technology use, adults are just beginning to understand the ramifications of the ways that we use technology. But it isn't adults that will need to worry about college admissions and job possibilities in conjunction with our Facebook and Instagram footprints 10 years from now: it is kids.

So how do we talk to kids about this important issue that might feel so far removed from their lives? Child development expert and bestselling author Julia Cook addresses that question in her new book author of the new book The Technology Tail (Boys Town Press, September 2017).

So what does the book suggest? Don't be mean and irresponsible! That's the straight-to-the-point advice Cook's character "Screen" has for young readers who are active on social media. Whether tapping out messages on their computers, tablets or phones, Screen wants kids to know their words - the kind and the cruel - will follow them for life, creating a digital trail that can't be erased.

The Technology Tail offers a timeless message to a new generation just learning how to navigate the fast-changing digital age. Written for children in grades 1-6, this storybook uses rhymes and colorful illustrations to grab their attention. There are also tips for parents and teachers who want to reinforce kindness and respect in a high-tech world.

Julia Cook is a national award winning children's author, former counselor, and parenting expert. She has presented in over 800 schools across the country, regularly delivers keynote addresses at national education and counseling conferences, and has 42 published children's books.

The goal behind all of Julia's books and efforts is to actively involve young people into her fun and creative stories and teach them to become life-long problem solvers. Inspirations for her books come from working with children and carefully listening to parents and teachers.
