Mibelas Birth Control Tablets Recalled Over Labeling Problem

CBS Sacramento – The Food and Drug Administration has announced a nationwide birth control pill recall.

Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc. says its Mibelas 24 Fe products were packaged improperly. As a result, the first four days of tablets labeled as active pills are actually placebos.

That could result in unintended pregnancies as well as potential health issues for the mother and fetus.

There are no reports of any adverse effects from this issue, according to the FDA.

iPad Air 2 review

Update: Later this year the iPad Air 2 will see an update to the latest iOS 11 software. Apple has now stopped selling the iPad Air 2 and has instead replaced it with a new product, simply entitled the iPad. We've compared the new Apple slate with the iPad Air 2 here. 

Plus there are new, even better tablets in Apple's range such as the iPad Pro 9.7 (and Pro 12.9). The iPad Air 2 is still a top quality slate though and you can get it for a slightly lower price point.

It was hard to see how Apple could improve on the first iPad Air - arguably the finest tablet ever produced. 

And then it went and did so with the iPad Air 2. You can talk all you like about what counts as "too thin" but there's no denying that this new tablet is a feat of engineering that again pushes the limits of what makes a premium slate. Plus, unlike the iPhone 6 Plus it doesn't bend either!

Not only that, but the relentless desire to make the thing thinner has resulted in a better screen too, as the layers that make up the backlight, touchscreen digitizer and LCD screen are so close that Apple now claims there is zero air in between them.

The result? A less reflective display that looks brighter and more colorful. And it really is.

Since its arrival, Apple has launched a new fleet of slates, with the iPad Pro 12.9-inch and iPad Pro 9.7-inch taking up position at the top of the firm's tablet offering.

The launch of Apple's new Pro slates has resulted in the lowering of the iPad Air 2 price which now starts at $399 (£379, AU$569) - originally $499 (£399, AU$699) - for the 32GB, Wi-Fi only model.

At the other end of the scale, the 128GB, Wi-Fi+4G variant is now $629 (£589, AU$879) - down from $829 (£659, AU$1,119).

You can't buy the iPad Air 2 directly from Apple anymore, but you can find it at other retailers around the world.

The new pricing makes the iPad Air 2 a much more approachable offering, and it's still an excellent tablet more than two years on. It may not be a bargain, but it does give better value for money.

I'll get onto the design in a moment - but it's worth noting that the design alone is a good reason to pick up the iPad Air 2. It's super light, amazingly slim and will delight over and over again for the first fortnight of ownership, before you slip back to the standard tech nonchalance that creeps over us all eventually.

Did the iPad Air need to get thinner and more powerful? Not really - but once you actually handle the new iPad Air 2, you'll be sold.

At 6.1mm thick, the Apple iPad Air 2 is still one of the slimmest tablets on the market. It's not actually the thinnest, but we're at the point now where fractions of a millimetre really don't matter.

Thinness for its own sake can be an error - there is a point of diminishing returns where only marginal improvements can be achieved, at the cost of structural integrity, battery life and overall performance - but Apple hasn't reached that point yet. 

The iPad Air 2 feels like a very solid tablet that can be held easily for hours without it getting uncomfortable. The iPad Air 2 is hardly a big tablet, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is both smaller and lighter with the same size display.

Where the Apple device wins though is the overall packaging. Samsung's option is good, but clearly an assemblage of distinct parts. The plastic back, the larger-bezelled screen and the rim are all competing parts, where the iPad Air 2 is a complete package, smooth and easy to hold in one hand.

I was almost loath to put it in a case - it needs to be protected if you're going to be running it around town, as that back and chamfered edges will scuff up eventually - but if you're going to be a sofa-warrior with your new tablet, the Smart Cover will do just fine and won't obscure the impressive design.

The sad thing here is the loss of the silencing switch, which has departed due to size restrictions.

Apple would argue that this is because the new Control Center makes the option available throughout the OS with just a flick of the hand, but in truth I'm really going to miss being able to silence the tablet without even looking.

The power button remains at the top and the volume keys have shuffled a little upwards now free of the silence key, but otherwise the only real design changes are the speaker grill at the bottom of the tablet (now a single row of holes, rather than the two before) and the Touch ID on the home key.

You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Air without a spotter's guide, but the iPad Air 2 has a deeper black bezel which helps enhance the picture - plus it now comes in gold to join space gray and silver.

The camera stays where it has been, both front and back, with the new 8MP iSight snapper not jutting out as it does on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The fact no tablet camera needs to be that high res, nor should people be taking pics with a tablet anyway, is something to discuss in another article.

Does the iPad Air 2's design warrant the high price tag? Yes, more than any other tablet on the market. It brings a premium build, quality finish, great looks and while it doesn't need to be this thin, the structure doesn't seem to have had an effect on the actual performance of the tablet, and does add something in the palm.

Hay fever is an allergic reaction to pollen, which can be released from a number of natural sources including trees or grass.

There is currently no cure for the condition, but many people are able to ease or control their symptoms with treatment.

You are typically more likely to get hay fever if it runs in your family, or if your family has a history of asthma or eczema.

Thankfully many people find their symptoms improve with age and can disappear completely in some cases.

Unluckily for sufferers, hay fever is set to get worse for millions of Brits this year as clouds of "super pollen" engulf the country.

Hay fever season started more abruptly than usual this year, when experts warned we were set for months of misery at the beginning of April.

In May, Britain's first ever hay fever map highlighted pollen hot spots in the UK.

People who have the common allergic condition usually experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Itchy eyes

A runny nose

Sneezing

Treatment can include taking antihistamines to prevent an allergic reaction, or corticosteroids (steroids) to help reduce swelling and inflammation.

You can usually get over-the-counter medication from your pharmacist, but if symptoms are persistent, it could be worth speaking to your GP for a prescription.

Pre-release software is almost always riddled with bugs and performance problems so it's not surprising to see a growing list of complaints about iOS 11 beta problems.

The iOS 11 release date is confirmed for the fall but iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners can try the software early via Apple's iOS 11 beta.

The iOS 11 beta and its list of new features are tempting but most iPhone and iPad users should avoid the iOS 11 beta for the moment.

Apple's iOS 11 beta is plagued with problems. Some of these issues are tiny bugs, others could disrupt your workflow or your day-to-day use.

The running list features installation problems which include a frustrating Unable to Verify Update error, severe battery drain, Wi-Fi issues, busted Bluetooth, UI lag, freezes, problems with auto-brightness, various issues with widgets, and random reboots.

iOS 11 beta users are also, unsurprisingly, complaining about app crashes and compatibility issues. The Photos app, a core application for most iPhone, has crashed numerous times during our brief time with the iOS 11 beta.

As we push away from the update's release, Apple's discussion forums, Reddit, Twitter, and third-party forums are starting to fill up with complaints about the iOS 11 beta. We expect the list of problems to grow as more people find and install Apple's beta software. The beta is currently limited to developers but it'll open up to the general public in a few weeks.

Some problems are more common than others but it's difficult to predict what kind of issues you'll see on your phone or tablet once you download the beta. You'll want to be extremely careful with iOS 11 beta, especially if this will be your first time trying out pre-release software.

Where to Find Feedback

You Can Downgrade from iOS 11 Beta

Apple is currently signing off on two iOS updates, iOS 10.3.1 and iOS 10.3.2, which means you can downgrade to either one of those if iOS 11 beta is too buggy.

What's Next

Problems will plague the iOS 11 update throughout the beta process but you can expect Apple to fix some bugs in future beta releases.

That said, we expect future iOS 11 beta's to be more stable than the initial offerings so if you're at all concerned about issues, it might be a good idea to wait.

Again, Apple plans to release a public beta in a few weeks and in our experience, public betas have been more stable than developer versions of pre-release software.

7 Amazon Fire tablet problems and how to fix them

How do I fix my Kindle Fire?

Many folks consider their Amazon Fire tablet to be a stand-up device, so many of these problems might not be issues for you. However, with everything going on in the latest Fire, it's entirely possible that you're experiencing some issue or another.

Here are a few common Amazon Fire problems and how to fix them.

My Amazon Fire won't connect to Wi-Fi

What good is a tablet with no internet?

Is your Wi-Fi up to snuff?

Before completely blaming your Amazon Fire, double-check that other devices in your home can connect to Wi-Fi. If your phone and your laptop aren't connecting either, then you may want to contact your internet service provider. It's likely not your tablet.

Is Airplane mode on?

Next, make sure that airplane mode is turned off. It might seem like a no-brainer, but just have a look. You may have accidentally tapped and activated it without realizing. To check:

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap Wireless.

Tap Off next to Airplane mode to disable it if it's on.

Is your software up-to-date?

Next, you'll want to double-check that your Amazon Fire has the latest software installed. Visit Amazon's Device Software Updates to make sure.

Restart your Wi-Fi connection

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap Wireless.

Tap Wi-Fi.

Tap Off.

Wait a few seconds for your tablet to fully disconnect.

Tap On to turn Wi-Fi back on.

Restart your Amazon Fire tablet

Press and hold the power button until your tablet restarts automatically. If it restarts before the 40 seconds are up, release the power button. If it doesn't restart automatically after 40 seconds, release the button and press it again to turn on your Fire.

Can your Amazon Fire find your network?

You'll want to make sure that the Wi-Fi network you're trying to connect to is accessible by your Amazon Fire.

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap Wireless.

Tap Wi-Fi.

Tap Scan.

If your network doesn't show up, you can always add it manually.

Change the channel?

Make sure you router uses a Wi-Fi channel from 1 to 11. Double-check with your internet service provider if they provided your router, or double-check with the manufacturer of your router.

Restart your router and modem

Unplug your modem and router.

Wait at least 30 seconds.

Plug in your modem and wait for it to turn on.

Plug in your router.

Still having trouble?

If you've tried all of these fixes, then contact your internet service provider to troubleshoot your network. If it's not your network, then you'll want to contact Amazon directly.

My Amazon Fire won't connect to my PC

It can be a real pain in the butt when you're just trying to transfer files from your PC onto your Amazon Fire, but neither device wants to cooperate.

First, try resetting both devices. Turn your computer and Amazon Fire tablet off for a few seconds. This will halt any faulty connections that the two are trying to make with one another. Then turn them both back on and try to reconnect.

Try a cloud storage app, like Dropbox to transfer your files. This will essentially let you upload them to a secure folder on the internet and wirelessly retrieve them on either device. You could even try to email files to yourself, so long as they're not too large.

Try using a different USB cable. It may seem like a "DUH" fix, but it might just be the solution. If you have another open USB port, try that as well. It might sound like an "IT Crowd"-style solution, but just humor us and try it!

"An internal error occurred"

Internal errors can be caused by myriad issues, but some Amazon Fire tablet owners might see messages like, "This can be caused by a lack of network connectivity. Please make sure you have a good network connection."

Check your connection

Turn your modem and router off and then turn them on again after 30 seconds. This might give your connection the kick in the pants that it needs.

Reset your tablet

Hold down the power button down for 40 seconds until your Amazon Fire tablet automatically restarts. If it restarts before the 40 seconds is up, release the power button. If it hasn't restarted after 40 seconds, release the power button and press it again to turn on your tablet.

Clear app data

Sometimes these internal errors can happen when trying to open certain apps.

Tap More.

Tap Applications.

Tap Installed Applications.

Tap the app that won't load.

Tap Force Stop.

Tap OK.

Tap Clear Data.

Tap OK.

Make sure the data and time are correct on your Amazon Fire

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap More.

Tap Date and Time.

Try unregistering and registering your Amazon Fire again

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap More.

Tap My Account.

Tap Deregister.

Once "deregistered," just register again.

My Amazon Fire tablet won't charge

Your device not charging is kind of a HUGE problem. After all, you didn't buy a disposable tablet, did you? Give these fixes a try.

Shut it down

Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to turn off your tablet and then plug it in. If you hold it for any longer, your tablet will restart.

Is it your cable?

First, make sure you're using the charging cable that came with your Amazon Fire. Then try using another device with your charging cable to make sure your cable is still in good working condition. If it isn't, you'll need a new one!

Are you fully connected?

If the orange charging light doesn't come on when your tablet is plugged in, it could be your physical connection. Some Amazon Fire tablets have been known to have loose charging ports.

Start by trying to gently push the cable in a bit further. If that doesn't work, try gently moving it from side to side. If you have a loose port and nothing works, you'll want to contact Amazon for a replacement tablet.

The keyboard on my Amazon Fire tablet is misbehaving

Trying to type "I love you," but it ends up saying "fqekrhgreiohg?" Sometimes touch keyboards can have little conniptions and decide to revolt. Here's how to fix that.

Clean your screen!

If you're wolfing down KFC and using your Fire at the same time, the screen's gonna get filthy. Even without fried chicken fingers, your screen will still collect dirt and fingerprints, which can mess with touch sensitivity and accuracy. Use a clean microfiber cloth and clean that screen.

Is there a screen protector on your screen?

Most screen protectors are made so as not to interfere with the touch sensitivity of your tablet, but now and again things just don't jive. You may even have air bubbles under the protector, which can make typing a bit of a crapshoot.

Either take off the screen protector or smooth out the bubbles with the application card that came with the protector (you can also use a credit card). Start in the center of your Amazon Fire and gently push out towards the edges with the edge of the card.

Reset your Amazon Fire

Hold the power button down for 20 seconds. Wait a few seconds and then turn on your tablet again.

Factory reset (last-ditch effort)

You'll lose all of your content, so make sure you back up your Amazon Fire before trying a factory reset. If even a factory reset doesn't work, then you'll want to contact Amazon directly for a replacement.

No audio through my Amazon Fire's speakers or headphones

Some folks aren't getting any sound through their Amazon Fire tablet's speakers. Some folks aren't getting any sound through their headphones. Some folks aren't getting any sound at all.

There are probably a few issues in play, so try these potential fixes:

Double-check the volume

It may seem obvious, but press the volume rocker on the side of your Amazon Fire tablet to make sure that you haven't mistakenly turned it down or it hasn't randomly lowered its volume.

After that, try this:

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap Settings.

Tap Display and Sounds.

Make sure the volume slider is all the way up or at least where you'd like it to be.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

If your speakers aren't working, try plugging in a pair of headphones and then unplugging them while audio is playing. This might jog the speakers into action, since you may have unplugged your headphones while your tablet was sleeping, so when it woke up, it thought that headphones were still plugged in.

If that doesn't work, hold the power button for 20 seconds until your Amazon Fire powers down completely. Wait a few seconds and turn it back on.

Is a case the case?

If you're not getting any sound out of your headphones and you have a case on your Amazon Fire tablet, try taking it off. The case may be too bulky, preventing your headphone pin from being fully inserted.

The thing's jacked up

You might have a faulty headphone jack. If you hear any audio distortion or static, then switch headphones. If you're still getting distortion or audio doesn't play in one position but does when you wiggle the headphone pin, then you'll want to contact Amazon directly for a replacement.

The screen is frozen or my Amazon Fire tablet is unresponsive

If you're in the middle of downloading apps or other content, your Fire might be slow to respond. Before restarting or trying anything else, wait for your downloads to complete and even a minute or two after that. Your Fire might speed right back up.

The Amazon Fire tablet doesn't quite have the CPU that other, more powerful tablets have, so if you have a ton of apps open at once and you notice slow performance, close the apps you're not using.

If that fails, try a good ol' restart. Hold the power button down for 40 seconds or until your tablet restarts. If it does not automatically restart after 40 seconds, release the power button and press it again to turn on your tablet.

If it's still slow after you restart, then try a reset:

Swipe down from the top of your home screen.

Tap Settings.

Tap Reset Device.

Tablet won't turn on amongst other problems

It started of by not working with multiple chargers. Then, it ran out of battery and wouldn't turn back on again. After a year, it started working again, but I cannot remember the password, and there is no option to recover it, even though I have tried almost 100 times now. Then again, it stopped turning on when it ran out of battery. There are important files on it that I need to recover, and some help would be nice. Plz help me
